Description
A superb complete set of Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen” in a hard case with two books that complement the records and booklets.
This set contains 22 records and 5 booklets all in a presentation case. The records are in excellent to superb condition with the majority having never been played.
The work was conducted by Georg Solti and recorded on the Decca label over an 8 year period.
It comes with two excellent books to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of the music.
The first is a 1910 edition of “The Perfect Wagnerite: A commentary on the Niblung’s Ring” by Bernard Shaw. The book is complete and undamaged, the spine complete and the pages have uncut edges. The cover is in first class condition if a little faded.
The second is “Ring Resounding – The Recording of Der Ring des Nibelungen” by John Culshaw, the recording producer of the record set for sale here. The book tells of the recording of the work, how it was made and the people who played, sang and recorded the Wagner’s great work. It is a 1976 reprint and again is in excellent condition.
These records form part of my father’s collection. He bought them new and has kept them in excellent condition. The records are unmarked and look like new. The books were purchased in the 1970’s.
The records and books weigh 12kg. If you intend to buy then please check postage costs to you before bidding. (I recently posted a set of records weighing 6kg to Japan from the UK at a cost of £58).
