Walton Shostakovich Cello Concertos Tortelier UK HMV ASD 2924
Paul Tortelier with the Bournemouth Symphony conducted by Paavo Berglund performs the Walton “Concerto for Cello and Orchestra” and the Shostakovich’s “Concerto No. 1 for Cello and Orchestra”. An English pressing on the HMV Label (ASD 2924), the labels are red with white border and grey postage stamp dog. The record is of as new appearance. The cover has rubbed a little with a small seam split on the top edge and other minor wear only.
This record is one of a collection of records that had never been played. Some are sealed*, some have a store seal** and the rest are in mint condition.
* very few records outside the U.S. were ever shrink wrapped and it was only toward the end of the LP Era that this became common.
**Some record stores in Australia before being placed on their racks would attach a seal, either to the opening of the cover, or over the inner bag.
