Released in November 1970, this Lp is absolutely typical of its time. The music is just about everything you could want out of a prog/Folk rock band.
The lead name in the band was Nick Simper the bass player who has helped form Deep purple, and in fact played on their first album. If you listen to the first track on side 2 Ritual it is pure Purple.
This is a very very hard Lp to collect in good condition. One becuase it certainly never sold in any quantity because as I said previously there were many prog bands trying to break into the market at this time, and this Lp had come out almost at the same time as the superb Black Sabbath Paranoid album, also on this label but 4 numbers earlier.
Secondly those you do find are not in particularly good condition. I sold a copy earlier in the year which although was nice, was nowhere near the stupendous grade that this album affords.
The sleeve I can honestly say is in MINT condition. I have never seen a 1970 gatefold (non laminated) in such pristine condition, well since 1970 anyway. It is no understatement to say it is immaculate. firstly it is not laminated and yet it still is perfect. most non laminated sleeves would have suffered shelf wear by now. this is as good as the day it cameoff the shelves. spine perfectly flat and legible. opening edges sharp, and corners square.
The vinyl has the typical spiral label which is in top condition. the non spiral side is perfectly white, and i see no spindle hole wear, and perhaps one or two light spider lines. This clearly shows me that the Lp has had no more than a few plays at best in it's 34 year history.the previous owner clearly either loved it or hated it so much as not to play it.
34 years on it sounds very fresh. Silent run in grooves and no background noises. Just pure prog / folk rock.
the music takes you on ajoureny back in time, and a si previously mentioned there are definitely traces and pardon the pun (shades) of Deep Purple.
immaculate Lp, Immaculate condition, and a collectible grade album that will never need updating
