Description
Warren Smith "Rock 'n Roll Ruby" on Sun 239, 78 RPM, Very Good Condition.
For auction I have a classic rock 'n roll tune from 1956. This is a 78 RPM copy of Warren Smith's hit, 'Rock 'n Roll Ruby' with 'I'd Rather Be Safe Than Sorry' on the B-side. Record is in very good condition, with still some shine and minor surface scuffs. Plays loud and doesn't skip with only a very light background hiss. Most of this is drowned out from the loud passages in the song. Labels are in great condition with no writing on them. The 'Ruby' side has some very light wear around the edges of the label while the B-side doesn't seem to have this wear. Please see pictures. Comes in a generic sleeve inside a clear poly sleeve. A beauty to own!
I play tested this record on a restored 1962 Magnavox record player with a proper 78 rpm needle tracking at 3.2 grams.
Warren recorded this song in early February 1956. It eventually became a #1 single on May 26th, 1956 on local pop charts. This was Warren's first release on Sun and it outsold the first Sun singles on three other popular Sun artists, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins! Perhaps it was the catchy, fun lyrics? This one is a good one to sing along to!
This record will be very carefully packaged for safe transport, sandwiched between cardboard, wrapped in bubble wrap with packing peanuts.
