Description
Washboard Doc and His Hep Trio, "Doc, Lucky and the Flash" (Spivey #1021) Terrific original long OUT-OF-PRINT white label LP by the hardcore downhome blues crew of Washboard Doc -- Joseph Doctor. With a supporting cast of funky fellow travelers: Lucky (full name, Cab Lucky) on vocals, guitar and harmonica; and "The Flash" (real name, John Whitner) on vocals, "humazoo" and washtub bass. This is great jug-style blues, without the jug. The typically detail-stuffed Spivey Records cover is Mint, with a little photo of blues queen Victoria Spivey in the upper left hand corner, though she does not appear on the actual recording -- see my scan. The vinyl is Mint-minus -- I only give a Mint grade to sealed items, but this wax is squeaky-clean, and looks to be unplayed. Sight graded. Strict grading. And the music? Funky, groovin' and timeless! 12 songs in "High Blues Fidelity." Collector's note: "Spivey LB-1021-A" and "Spivey LB-1021-B" is etched in the trail off wax.
