Description

              Christian progressive folk/rock masterpiece from England

This is a rare Christian folk/rock LP released in 1974 on the Myrrh label.  The LP is titled Hill Climbing For Beginners by the British group Water Into Wine Band.

This LP is SEALED !

To quote from the Archivist book, Vintage Vinyl Jesus Music by Ken Scott:   "Strong classical rock feel with lots of orchestration and creative string arrangements. ... a progressive-folk masterpiece which reaches its apex on the stunning mysterious 11-minute "Song of the Cross" where haunting harmonies, brilliant violin work and jamming acoustic guitars mix magically."

If you have never heard the "Song of the Cross," try to find someone who can play it for you.

NOTE :  According to Ken Scott, the original UK "Myrrh Gold" release is more folky and sounds better.  I've never heard the Myrrh Gold release.    

Has anyone played the UK Myrrh "Gold" LP to compare the different versions ??

This is one of my favorite oldie Christian music albums.  The songs seem to invite all kinds of emotions. 

Does anyone know of other Christian bands who played similar to Water Into Wine Band?

I like progressive, blues-rock, Celtic and some psychedelic music.  Similar to the styles of Arkangel ( with Kemper Crabb ), Jimmy Hotz (classic "Beyond The Crystal Sea" LP), Oden Fong ( classic "Come For The Children" LP ),  Eden ( a 70's Christian progressive rock band from Germany ), Semaja ( a 70's Christian progressive rock band from Germany who released a classic LP "Hear My Cry" ), the Exkursions ( with Mike Johnson ), Jeff Johnson, Iona, The Knights of the Lord's Table, Water Into Wine Band ( legendary Christian band from UK ), Proto-Kaw ( with Kerry Livgren ! ) and of course Phil Keaggy with Glass Harp !
