Description

Baron Elmo Enterprises proudly presents an insanely rare vinyl treasure from the back catalogue of alt-rock tweaker oddballs WEEN: the very great, very out of print double lp edition of the Demented Duo’s second album The Pod, released in 1991 on the Shimmy Disc label. This is certainly one of the most unhinged records Ween ever coughed up... a mind-stretching, dada-dosed spaz attack rendered in eye-squeezing colors, guaranteed to pry open the secret passageway in your cerebellum that you never knew was there. Gene and Dean made full use of the capabilities of the recording studio here, using all kinds of oddball sounds and effects to create a freaky smorgasbord of twisted-till-it-screams pop music, fuelled by what must have been a truckload of drugs, a stack of vintage Mad magazines, gallons of Mountain Dew and half a dozen tanks of nitrous oxide – all flavored with that special brand of unclassifiable screwballery that Ween wields like no one else. Twenty-three tracks, seventy-six minutes of what-the-f*ck-are-you-listening-to that will have your head spinning like a little wheel on a long road. The Pod didn’t stay in print long on vinyl, did not get reissued on lp when the rights got bought by Elektra and has become all but impossible to find in the fifteen years or so since its deletion. Both records and the cover are in gorgeous, near-mint shape.
