Description
Picked this up recently due to the Moondog title side two and filed it in my play pile. I also happen to be reading his biography and one chapter deals with the artist's relationship with Tony Schwartz (interesting and more involved than I had realized). Anyway, there's a mention of Schwartz licensing Moondog material for commercial use and as soon as I read this I ran home and dug this album out. Sure enough, it includes the full S.F. vacation spot and an additional, shorter instro-only track which pretty much knocked me off my chair. Extensive liner notes here as well so be sure and check pics below. Experts, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing this is the only Moondog radio spot available on vinyl. Ken Nordine fans will marvel at this find as well as it showcases a selection from the famed Fuller Paint Co series that inspired his later Colors LP! Check the clip below - very fun to hear this in it's full form. Lastly, and I may be way off base here, but the Amex ad side two sounds suspiciously like Manhattan Research-era Raymond Scott. I'll let Scott fans check the clip below and judge for themselves. This piece is extremely brief and there's no mention of Scott in the liners. Album was produced by RAB Creative Presentation circa mid 60's, comes in plain white jacket, includes extensive 8 page liner note insert and also features radio spots by Stan Freberg, Andy Griffith, Stan Getz & Mel Brooks for companies like Borden's ice cream, Winston cigarettes, Bankamericard, Schick shaving cream, Volkswagen, Comet autos and more. Feel free to email me with any questions. See my other auctions for more "incredibly strange", outsider, beatnik exotica, etc LPs.
