Up At Out On The Floor sez:
I was playing golf last week with Roman Abramovich, Bill Gates and Levi Roots, when I got a call from one my reggae vinyl scouts informing me that a couple of the more cunning and razor-sharp minds on the Blood + Fire forum might have rumbled Out On The Floor's success at finding records. Although it's now common knowledge that we get exclusive dubs flown in from Canada by Chinook helicopter twice a week, it turns out one member has told the world our best kept secret and I quote: "London has the most amount of old soundmen down on their luck, its really not hard if you got the cash".
So there you have it: London's streets are not so much paved with gold as paved with down-on-their-luck Soundmen. It's got so bad the urban fox is moving back to the country because it can't take the competition. Now the secret's out we fear that every record dealer from around the globe will be descending on the capital. This might explain why we had Tommy and Masa from Japan in the shop on Friday. It might also be why Ernie B was seen house-hunting in the Kensington and Chelsea area.
I suppose we should be the first to inform the Blood + Fire Shaka faithful that their hero will be officially retiring from the sound game after 35 glorious years. He got a few bills at the wrong time along with having to put a new gearbox in the van and has been forced to sell his entire collection of vinyl and dub-plates to Out On The Floor at what we thought a snip at 250,000 Pounds.
Every mickle mek a muckle as they say. As for the Blood + Fire member who let the cat out of the bag and goes by the name of Jack Johnson, our spies tell us he's an ex sound boy with a particular liking for Celine Dion and Studio 1 Christmas Carol compilations, so with Christmas around the corner, fingers crossed, he'll give us a call.
