Description

William Nowik – Pan Symphony In E Minor (Mango, US 1974) CONDITION: Cover/Record: SEALED It is nice to know that there are still unknown treasures out there waiting to be discovered! I listed a lesser copy of this a while back that I stumbled across and got a huge response. Since then I have managed to get my hands on a sealed original! Excellent, trippy instrumental prog and psych with Pink Floyd and King Crimson leanings. Right from the start of side one (which is a side long track) you get that early Pink Floyd feel. Then the creepy electric violin comes in reminding me of Larks Tongue era King Crimson, again changing gears into heavy guitar rock not unlike some of the early 70’s heavy fuzz rock bands from the U.K.. In fact, all of side one sounds like it is from early 70’ Britain. Side two is more varied, adventurous and again, a side long track. The opening sounds similar to the Allman Brothers, then blends into an experimental prog/ free jazz, then into a prog/folk/psych wrap up. Lots of speaker to speaker effects as well. Songs include “ A Conjuration to Pan”, “Rolling to Venus Interlude”, “Burnt Offerings”, “Sky Fire”, etc. This was a very limited pressing, within the hundreds. I guess there will be write up in Acid Archives coming shortly and is being considered one of the best private press findings in many years. The photos provided are of the early copy I had, this one being a sealed original, perfectly flat with no corner bends, ring wear...nothing! No reserve! Good luck!
