Description

An original very 1st press of Pilgrimage from Sep-1971. There were a lot of label design changes in this period so don't get mislead on the proper 1st press. the pink/orange dog-bone design is 1st press for Pilgrimage. Matrix 1L/2L - very 1st cut. This copy also comes from within the first few thousand copies pressed under the Buckingham sequence. Stampers 1A/1U. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by Robert Stace. Also included is the original blue and white inner sleeve dated to '9-71'..the month of release. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In super condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection I couldn't make out more than a couple of ultra-fine marks..nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much perfectly quiet and the audio comes across with SUPERB clarity. And YOU will need this on this release..any background on those quiet passages will start to detract from the listening experience. Don't short change yourself with a potential iffy copy. BUY the copy that will impress and deliver this album to a top-level standard. Even the slow-build passages [e.g. ALONE] play really nice and clean. And Lullaby plays with a superbly quiet background. The audio quality is absolutely superb from this Decca pressed heavy-set slab of vinyl. You might detect a few isolated crackles in a couple of spots - but even that is extremely minor. This is about as good as it is humanly possible to achieve/find. A humdinger for sure...   Cover (Ex-) Very nice clean front and back with only lightest wear down at the foot of the rear. The interior looks great with no issues at all. Edge wear is mostly light and the spine has a bit with some light fade. Text on the spine still all legible. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity. Very nice original example.
Inner (Ex-) No side splits. Lightest ageing.
