Description
Here is a great 1958 release on the RCA Victor label (LSC-2225). Gibson conducts the New Symphony Orchestra of London in performances of Arnold's Overture to Tam O' Shanter, Moussorgsky-Ravel's Gnomus from Pictures at an Exhibition, Moussorgsky-Rimsky-Korsakov's A Night on Bare Mountain, Saint-Saens' Danse Macbre, Op. 40, Humperdinck's Witches' Ride form Hansel and Gretel, and Liszt's Mephisto Waltz. This is the original shaded dog stereo label of this beloved audiophile recording. This is an early press with 3S/1S stampers.
Condition - The front image looks pretty nice, but the jacket shows wear, particularly around the edges. There is a large split at the top near the mouth, and there is a small split at the bottom starting at the mouth. The back has a sticker and a little staining. The jacket grades at VG-. The record is shiny with light signs of use, including some marks and fingerprints. The record grades at VG+, maybe a little better, by sight. I listened to most tracks and they sounded about as they looked - nice with a small bit of noise here and there, but overall, a very enjoyable listening experience. The play grade is strong VG+.
