Description

Welcome to 20th Century Collectables

An investment grade 1963 UK mono -1N 1st pressing with ‘Jobete’ label credit, yellow & black Parlophone rim labels and without 'Sold in UK..' text.

A genuine 1963 UK 1st -1N pressing, with the earliest and incorrect label variation, ‘JOBETE’ credit for ‘Money’, the misspelling of ‘You Really Gotta Hold on Me’ and early MT tax code.

This investment grade copy comes in an astonishing shop fresh cover. The back panel is completely untarnished and has been stored in a smoke free environment for nearly 50 years.

Mastered at very high volume the -1N pressings were quickly withdrawn and superceded by a succession of different matrix pressings making this first batch of records highly collectable, especially in this wonderful condition.

CONDITION

Disc

Visual: Side 1. EXC+ Side 2 MINT-

A stunning looking record which has only been played 3 or 4 times in its 48 year history, so very rare to find -1N JOBETE pressing in this condition.  The record appears virtually mint in strong daylight. On close inspection under a halogen light there are 2 ultra faint non-sounding hairlines on side 1 but these are very easy to miss and only visible on very close inspection.  Side 2 has only the faintest of whispy sleeve removal marks and only visible under a strong halogen light . All in all a stunning example. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.

Audio: MINT-

Stunning audio throughout with the unmistakable dynamic sound of -1N first pressing. There is no evidence of any groove wear to any of the music signals. Every track sounds vibrant. There are no skips, jumps, pops or ticks. A great listening experience and an investment grade audio example of this much sought after first pressing.

Labels: MINT-

A great set of labels with hardly any evidence of play. Side 1 carries the mispelt ‘ You Really Gotta a Hold on Me’ and the earlier MT tax code.  Side 2 carries the incorrect ‘Jobete’ label credit

Cover

MINT-

This shop fresh genuine 1st issue cover is in absolutely stunning condition and looks like it was purchased only yesterday. This is the earliest version of this cover with the misspelt ‘gotta’ and the heavier darker image of the Beatles; later copies being much lighter. The laminate still retains its high gloss finish. There is a faint bruise to the front panel near Ringo’s face which prevents a mint grading but this does not detract from the overwhelming freshness of this 1st issue patents pending cover. The rear panel has absolutely no signs of handling or ageing.  All flipbacks are intact and there is no writing to any area of the back panel. An incredibly well preserved example of this iconic Robert Freeman cover which would be virtually impossible to upgrade.

Inner-sleeve Exc+

Clean & correct with just a touch of light storage creasing but with no writing or seam splits.

Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N

Stamper codes: 3/MR & 1, 0/OP
