Description

An original 1st issue MONO press of WTB on UK Parlophone from Xmas1963 - whilst topping the charts. Matrix 7N/7N. Not the very earliest - the initial huge order for Nov-63 comprised the 1N's,3N's etc. By XMAS they were already up to 7N! and publishing is 'Dominion'. This is a VERY heavy-set pressing [pushing 160grams]...and has all the hallmarks of an early copy. 'Parlophone' perimeter text and 'Recording 1st Pub' exhibiting. A beautifully preserved original - not abused like so many other copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original G&L mono cover - rarely do '63 originals look this smart!. There's also the original Emitex inner too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few very slight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome though. For the vintage - it looks extremely good. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are really quiet and the audio comes across with super clarity. Given the vintage - HIGHLY impressive. I'm just getting clean mono feed - and you can hear all the detail well down into the mix. YOU are NEVER gonna beat this copy for out and out audio. Practically perfect. Even the quieter tracks play with ZERO background. Wall of silence in the background. Completely free of interference. Perhaps just a couple of crackles in two isolated spots per side. To be frank - IT IS AMAZING. FINAL UPGRADE. Remember this is genuine '63 and is now 60 years of age! Best WTB I've ever witnessed...
Cover (Ex-) Super difficult to find '63 copies anywhere near this nice looking. Lovely clean and flat front with just a couple of thumbnails. The rear has avoided much of the usual ageing process - just slight traces and a couple of very minor blemishes. That's unusual as over this kind of time frame very few will have escaped the ageing process. If you want me to illustrate this....taking a look at other 1st pressings on line. You will quickly see what I mean! Flipbacks looks superb. The spine is 95%+ intact.. a couple of minor stress creases. Hardly any edge wear which is something you can rarely say about a vintage '63 copy! Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. THIS IS ONE HELL OF A SPECIMEN.
