Description
Great Copy of this 1st pressing edition of "With the Beatles" Record is in Very Fine+ condition and I have taken pictures to show the detail of the condition of the grooves. The sound is excellent, typical of this desirable UK first pressing.
Matrix numbers are Yex 110 2 and Yex 111 2, The label PCS 3045 contains the misspelling of Gotta for the song you really gotta hold on me, the LP jacket contains the correct spelling You really Got a Hold on me, Label also has the incorrect publishing credit for Jobete music on the song "Money". From April of 1963 through the end of the year, Parlophone LP's featured the new black label with "The Parlophone Co. Ltd." in the rim print. There is no printed resale statement across the middle of the label on this issue, which identifies it as a first pressing.
LP Cover is made by Garrod and Lofthouse, it is the trifold style and as you can see there is slight wear, some minor imperfections in the lamination and a bit of yellowing over the years, but overall it is a great copy for any collector. It is, by far, the most valuable item in my Beatles Collection
A friend who runs a collectible record store took a look at the condition and stated that he felt like it was in super fine condition and was an excellent presssing
An original price tag is still on the upper left back corner of the cover with AFEX (American Foreign Exchange) for $2.35, this was probably purchased by a traveling serviceman in an AFEX store at the time of its original release.
From Beatles Collector site:
First pressings (1963)
this release first appears with the typical yellow block writing. The "All rights of the manufacturer" message around the edge of the label starts with "The Parlophone Co. Ltd."
The label DOES have "Recording first published 1963", but NOT "Sold in the U.K..." statements.
Side 2: Label incorrectly spells track 3 as "You Really Gotta Hold on Me"
Side 2: The publishing credit for "Money" says "Jobete"
The word "stereo" on the front cover is larger than in later editions
