'WITH THE BEATLES'
GERMAN – STEREO, RED AND WHITE ODEON - FIRST PRESS
VERY RARE "ALL MY LOVING" MIX WITH 5 TAPS ON HI-HAT AND ‘INTAKE OF BREATH’ INTRO
**VERY GOOD RECORD**
The record
This record is so clean, it would appear to have been played just a couple of times since it was bought! The vinyl is thick and lustrous, just some very minor scrathes, labels bright and very clean. Because an odd blemish may be found, I would grade the vinyl as VERY GOOD TO NR MINT
The labels
Virtually as new. No spindle trails or marks. I imagine the white was probably a bit whiter 40 years ago, but the overall colour really is EXCELLENT ++.
The extremely rare‘ All my loving’ mix
The ‘All my loving track’ is an extremely rare and sought after mix and to my knowledge only available on this German stereo pressing. “The untrimmed stereo opens with 5 taps on the hi-hat, left (speaker), and then an intake of breath, right.” (see the Usenet Guide to Beatles Recording Variations 1958-1961 by Joseph Brennan). If nothing else, this alone is an excellent reason to bid for this record.
The cover
The cover is reassuringly heavy and laminated on both sides. There are a few very minor creases and scuffs on the front cover To differentiate it from mono records, gold embossed stockers were placed on early German stereo records. The early press round sticker is in excellent condition and folds over to the back. Overall I would grade the cover as VERY GOOD.
The inner sleeve
The inner sleeve is the original ‘double pocket sleeve advertising 'groovy' records of the day on both sides. Graded as Good because of one 3 cm long part which is torn from within..
