Their performances are highly intense, electrifying and full of magical moments. They do rock you like a hurricane and many of their greatest songs only reveal their full potential when the band performs them in front of an audience. The idea behind WORLD WIDE LIVE, the Scorpions' second live recording after TOKYO TAPES (1978), was to catch the band at their peak. The live recording was just one part of a project that centered around a filmed documentary that showed the band on stage and also shed a light on their life as a touring rock band. The film crew followed the band around the US, Asia, Europe and South America and managed to capture the essence of the band, thus creating one of the best live- and concert documentaries ever. For the live album, they recorded five shows in San Diego, Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Paris and Cologne. The recordings capture the incredible atmosphere at Scorpions concerts and demonstrate the apparent ease with which the band manages to completely captivate their audiences. The set lists featured the very best pieces from their past four albums, and the way they performed the songs on stage adds an extra dimension of power, roughness and emotion to them.
