Back when Write About Love was released, Belle and Sebastian asked fans to enter a contest: write what you know about love in 300 words or less. I entered and was one of 25 Honorable Mentions, winning an autographed copy of the album. (See last picture to find a screencap of the email. I had to edit out the other winners' information as the email wasn't sent BCC.)
Oh, very cool! Yes, I suppose so. Why would you give that up? Well, because I wrote about the day I first met someone, and how the world seemed to change on a level felt but not seen. Between writing that and receiving the record, it all went really, really wrong and since they were involved in the band, I hid it away because I couldn't stand to listen to them, or see anything of theirs, or hear their names without feeling sick and panicked. So this thing's been sitting in a hospital bag hidden in the back of a closet for years. I'm sure someone somewhere would value it.
ANYWAY, here's the relevant stuff: the record has never been played, and would be in mint condition, but it looked like someone might have spilled a little something on the B side of the record, perhaps when it was being passed around to be signed? It can be cleaned, but I don't have the proper items to clean it and don't want to risk messing anything up. The sleeve is immaculate except for the mashed top corner, which happened when it was being shipped from Glasgow to California. I even left Stuart's original congratulatory Post-It exactly where it had been stuck on before being shipped out. Again, never been played and never been displayed, signed by everyone who was in the band at the time of this album's release (meaning before Mick Cooke left).
Also, not sure why the release year is listed as 2014, when this album came out in 2010, but it's one of the attributes I can't change on the listing.
