YES ~ Close To The Edge. UK 1st press Textured Sleeve Atlantic K50012. 1972 EX+
 
Very rare original 1st pressing of Close To The Edge with hard to find textured sleeve which is in super condition.  The LP itself is also in superb condition and represents a final upgrade for most collectors.
 
Grading: -
 
Outer Sleeve: EX to EX+
 
The first press textured gatefold sleeve is in EX condition, and very close to being graded EX+.  It displays just very light wear overall. The spine is square and unsquashed. The cover is uncreased and displays just minor wear to the raised textured surface, with most of this wear appearing on the rear of the sleeve.  Edge are in super condition with some very mild wear to the bottom edge only.  Finding these 1st press textured sleeves in anything approaching this condition is a tough task these days and whilst this copy isn’t mint, it’s a really great copy.
 
Vinyl: EX to EX+  (Side 1 is EX, Side 2 EX+)
 
The Vinyl is in EX condition, with side 2 being visually slightly better than side 1 visually. The vinyl has numerous hairline marks, but the majority are light and wispy. There is a general amount of wear to the surfaces but no overly big or heavy looking marks.  It’s an average condition record but importantly it is an A1 B1 copy so an extremely early example of this amazing LP.
 
On playback, side 1 plays through well and with a rich tonal balance and minimal surface noise.  Easily gradable at least EX
 
Matrix:  The matrix stamping is often very feint on the 1st pressings of this LP, but on this LP, very clear and legible.

Labels: NM
The Labels are in NM condition, perfectly clean with bright colours. Super.
 
Inner Sleeve:  VG+ (small tape repair)
 
The fragile green custom inner sleeve is in well above average condition.  It is clean and uncreased. I may be being a little harsh in grading as VG+ but it does have a small and neat tape repair and one edge is a little worn although the seems remain intact all round and are not split.
 
Overall this is a really super copy of this prog classic.
 
Postage and Packing:
 
All records are placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping.  Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers.  My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
