AND COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL POLY-LINED INNER SLEEVE (DATE CODED '0271' - February, 1971)
This was their first release to feature 24-year-old guitarist Steve Howe, issued on Atlantic Records in March 1971 in the UK, a month later in the United States.
This was the album that finally set Yes's career alight, with the album reaching #4 in the UK and, eventually, #40 in the U.S., where it was a platinum seller.
The Yes Album set the stage for the band's route to superstardom with Fragile and Close to the Edge. This was their first commercial success and, reportedly, it had to be or Atlantic was going to cut them loose.
The album was recorded at an old farmhouse in Devon, England, which was then home to Langley Studios.
Howe loved the place so much, that he later bought the building and surrounding land and now lives there.
Jon Anderson is credited as John Anderson on the album. Shortly afterwards he dropped the "h" from his first name, and on subsequent albums is credited as "Jon".
The album cover shows Tony Kaye with his foot in a cast. He had been in a car accident shortly before the picture was taken.

LABELS: Clean, bright, fresh and unmarked labels with light/moderate spindle traces - this copy has been enjoyed over the years but clearly only ever played on a high-end system and very, very carefully handled - EXCELLENT+
VINYL Visual: The record lies perfectly flat on the turntable and both surfaces retain their original deep, like-new, glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - NEAR MINT
VINYL Audio: The audio is absolutely stunning - tremendously rich and vibrant - crystal clear, clean, fresh and immediate audio delivery which far and away outshines the later re-issues. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always an immense please to return to this one) the playback is practically flawless - undoubtably the finest copy copy I have heard in a long while and in my opinion, pretty unbeatable - a beautifully clean pressing. Critically graded a very strong NEAR MINT for audio
SLEEVE: The original issue matt gatefold cover (with Atlantic Super logo and catalogue number) is in EXCELLENT condition. This sleeve is incredibly prone to wear (being untreated and mostly black) but this is one has fared well with just a little rubbing to the edges and spine but is otherwise, clean and unmarked
