Can't You Hear Your Daddy's Footsteps (Oct. 1967)

The Zakary Thaks were from Corpus Christi in Texas, and were one of the city's top acts between 1966-69. Like many groups they went through a few names, first starting as The Marauders, then The Riptides, then in spring of 1966 they changed to The Zakary Thaks. That's about the time they signed with local label J-Beck Records. The band were all between 15-17 years old. Just kids.

Their first single was "Bad Girl" which was a cool track that picked up local airplay and even got snapped up by Mercury for national distribution. They followed with several other singles and their legacy of 45 is one that has collectors scrambling for originals.... if they turn up.

This 45 is "Can't You Hear Your Daddy's Footsteps" paired with "Mirror Of Yesterday." It was their 4th single for the label. You might have heard this topside track on 'Psychedelic Crown Jewels, Vol. 1' (Double LP & CD), or on 'Acid Dreams, Vol. 1 (LP)'
