Up for auction is a very nice copy of ZZ Top's First Album, originally released in the U.S. on London Records (PS 584) in 1971:
-Guaranteed original pressing, NOT reissue -Original matte blue London labels -NO text on label rim -Matrix reads:     -SAHS 1586-W     -SAHS 1587-W -Original matte textured paste-down cover -Original inner sleeve -Heavy inflexible vinyl -Vinyl comes in poly audiophile protective inner sleeve
Note: These original first pressings have matte blue London labels--and are very rare.  Most copies you'll find have the semi-gloss darker blue London labels--and these are reissues, later pressings.  These earliest pressings also have heavy inflexible vinyl while the later pressings have much thinner, more flexible vinyl.
Original true first pressings do NOT have any text on the lower part of the label rim--almost all copies sold on eBay as "original pressings" have text on the label rim--and are NOT original pressings! 

At the time of this listing, this is the only true first pressing for sale on eBay--all others are reissues and later pressings!
Also, I do not grade inner sleeves, but this one does show some age darkening--but still intact and nice.
Condition: As you probably know, the covers for this album were very prone to wear and age, and it is very difficult to find a nice cover that isn't still in the shrink wrap, but this one is very nice and clean.  No ring wear, no seam splits.  Has a hint of sunning along the right and top edges (see photo).  Corners are nice, sharp.  Spine is nice, titles legible.  Just some light rub here and there overall.  One of the nicer copies of this album cover I've ever come across. Grade: Excellent (EX), better than typical VG+ copies
Vinyl is also very nice, retains its original shine.  Under a strong light, a couple faint superficial hairlines show up, probably from taking vinyl out of paper inner sleeve a few times.  Labels are clean, just a hint of marks around spindle holes.  Looks like this record has maybe been played only two or three times previously but handled with care.
Spot-Tested: The sound quality is very nice, has a little pressing noise on the run-in grooves, but once the music kicks in, it fades away--no significant distractions.  Pretty quiet between songs.  Not audiophile perfect, but none of these original pressings were.  Still a very enjoyable listening experience. Grade: Excellent Minus (EX-)
