SOPHOMORE RELEASE for the Top, moving their sound closer to the full-throttle twelve bore boogie of Tres Hombres. Actually its one of my favourite albums, soaked in basement blues and Billy Gibbons ripping out solos as if his life depended on it. And lets not forget that unmistakable husky growl. Dusty Hill's thick rolling bass lays down the law whilst Frank Beard moves around his kit in thuggish fashion, slightly jazzy but predominantly crushing.
Some great tracks here from side one opener 'Francene', to 'Just Got Paid' and the honky 'Chevrolet', a track so good that it was covered by hard rockers Stray Dog a year later. Best though is the instrumental 'Apologies To Pearly' written in mitigation for not using his custom pearl white Gibson Les Paul on this and other tracks. The slow blues 'Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell' is a hot, blue and righteous panacea to lost love Texas stylee whilst, Bar-B-Q' is the precurssor to 'La Grange' with its unrelenting riff and low-down solo.
This band were awesome, make no mistake. Their music sweated authenticity like no other - they made it sound so simplistic yet the arrangements are totally unique. No one else has ever taken this style and used it to such brilliant effect.

Vinyl: Nice clean and shiny condition. A Few lone spindle marks on labels and very few signs of any other use. Playback is VERY strong. Grades as top MINT-!
Cover: Issued in a beautifully illustrated fully laminated cover, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is square and straight. Rear unlaminated panel is very clean - just a bit of sellotape residue to surface. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 43 years after release. Grades as a very nice Ex+
