This is really where Weather Report began. It is a breathtaking record, with wonderful improvisations and beautiful soundscapes. Shorter's plaintive sax on the stunning 'In A Silent Way' is out of this world. Zawinul presents listeners with a series of atmospheric impressions - of the funeral of his grandfather in the mountains of Austria, on arriving by boat in New York as a young man and more. It's a timeless and quite wonderful album.
The vinyl is in excellent condition: flat, unmarked, with good clean labels. The cover is in good to very good condition. Polydor imported the cover from the American release and simply added a sticky label to indicate the UK catalogue number. Unfortunately, American covers of this type show more signs of wear than standard contemporary UK covers.
UK pressings of this record are few and far between. It is said that it sold so badly that Polydor withdrew the record extremely quickly. I think that it's a work of genius - my favourite jazz record by miles (no pun intended). One owner only.
I have sold many LPs on eBay. I package them very carefully and charge P&P at cost. I would never knowingly mislead with my description but should any problem arise, please tell me and I am sure that we will be able to resolve it. I will offer a full refund should any buyer be really unhappy – but this has never yet happened and my feedback is excellent.
