Description

An original Q1 1972 pressing of the debut on the Atlantic label. Matrix... Kinney 'K40031-A1' on side 1 & the plumb '588171/B4' on side 2. 588171 - is the original catalogue number before Kinney took over the catalogue @ Xmas-71. Note how none of the perimeter text is observable in the upper half of the label & the Warners logo is absent. These early Orange & Green label copies come straight after the red & plum copies ceased. And some are endowed with same audio as those late plum copies. The side 2 on this copy has exactly the same credentials as the late plum copies. So, it's a good value route into a high end playing copy for a lot less $$$ than the equivalent plum copy from just a couple of months earlier. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with the original poly-lined white inner sleeve with patent information. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveal an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one very slight deviation. If you really want a clean early rendition of this classic LP then you could do a lot worse than consider this copy. It can convey all the energy and vitality of those early early plum copies. And it does it clean - even into those low-key build moments. Don't risk a copy with background interference - you need a clean player otherwise those atmospheric moments will just not quite carry the same vibe. This is a very accomplished player and there's little to find fault with. Expect nothing more than a few light crackles in a couple of isolated moments [e.g. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You]. And I detected one slight tick in 'YTIGC' - no big deal. Otherwise -> crank it....sit back and enjoy just how good the debut can sound.
Cover (Ex) In beautiful condition and there can't be many about looking this darn tidy. The front looks immaculate with barely a crease. Ditto the rear. Barely any edge wear and sharp openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits.
