In 1990, I traded a crate of records to a dealer for this set. I had a table, he wanted my stuff, the end. It was sealed but with the shrink peeled away at the top and bottom corners. I quit dealing, over the years the shrink has totally come off and this set has been packed up and moved over a dozen times...BUT, has NEVER been played. I am not a fan, and only kept it for collector's sake. Just today, nearly 25 years later, I decided to let it go and gave it a full look over:
The 10 pieces of vinyl look like they were made yesterday!! However, there are three marks of note (pictured): one is on side 13 and produces a few light pops during "Rocks & Gravel", another on side 17 across "Sitting On A Barbed-Wire Fence" and a third across "She's Your Lover Now" produce some pops. They are very light/short and were there from the manufacturer ;( These are the ONLY spots that have had a needle on them...ever!? A brand new needle on a level and properly balanced Kenwood KD-5077.
The booklet has some small creases along the spine, also from the manufacturer, as again, this has never been touched prior to today but perhaps they're from sliding around during moves and such?
The box cover has some slight wear from storage/moving (pictured). The top and bottom portions were where the shrink was exposed from the day I got it and these places have the most visible signs. Due to age, there are some very light spots of yellowing, but all-in-all, REALLY outstanding for its age! I've been doing a lot of searching online and there are some real ugly copies out there!?
You can do your own researching if you're not already familiar...I'm not listing all 134 songs and their vast and varied details!? These tracks are of varying sources and of varying quality. This is a collector's item and not a mass-manufactured, super-produced set. THERE ARE ZERO RETURNS for disappointment in audio. ZERO. I have taken dozens of pictures of this set for reference, just in case of attempted shenanigans. The vinyls are super shiny, super clean and free of alarming marks other than those noted above.
There's a sealed copy available elsewhere online for $1000....there's a torn box with VG+ well-played vinyl for $500. Therefore, this price is well in line if not cheap!
