THE ZOMBIES - 'ODESSEY & ORACLE'
This EXCELLENT 1968 UK STEREO 1st pressing of their masterpiece dates from initial April 1968 release and is on the textured orange & black CBS label: S 63280
Matrix numbers: SBPG 63280 A2 & SBPG 63280 B2
Disc weight: 128g
Housed in a rare front laminated 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover with a red 'STEREO' logo actually printed onto the rear panel. This is the first example of this I have come across, most covers have 'stereo' sticker applied.
Complete with its original plain white, die-cut 'Patent No. 1,125,555' inner-sleeve.

A clean & unblemished set showing a moderate amount of spindle trails on each, but no wear to the centre holes themselves.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Extremely clean playing surfaces which retain all of their deep-gloss shine with no sign of groove-whitening from overplay on poor equipment. Viewed in strong daylight, side 1 displays a handful of light fingernail scuffs and a slightly heavier 2cm one on side 2 - but nothing which affects sound or play at all. Closer examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals little more than some light/non-feelable hairlines and a sparkling rainbow shine. Both sides of this quality pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
This copy has received a number of plays but only on good quality equipment as there is no evidence of any groove/playwear distortion on any track or in either channel. M single careful play-check at volume did detect an occasional light tick but nothing or heavy or anything which spoils the beauty of this magnificent album.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A fine example which retains a vivid, vibrant & unfaded front panel with the only signs of wear being a handful of light 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards the front opening edge. There is a hint of shelfwear rubbing to the corner's extremities but nothing along either opening edge. The rear panel is clean, unblemished & white where it should be with no writing or missing paper. Both seams are smooth & unsplit and and spine is perfectly worded and undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & flat with just a gentle storage bend in the lower right corner but no writing, tears or missing paper.
