Description
Recorded at Shanghai around January 1903 by the Columbia company, this is an exemplar of the first discs ever recorded in China, available to the public in June 1903, according to the Talking Machine News. This is a quotation from "the Columbia Master Book Discography" by Tim Brooks, p.194: "Mxs 1260-1350 reserved for records made in Shanghai in early 1903: they were apparently not sold in the U.S. and are axtraordinarily rare".There are alltogether only about 15 discs known to have survived, all unique.Note that the chinese serie is situated in the middle of the Grand Opera serie...
Record in in VG condition with just few scuffs and scratches. Zonophone hole on the back...
