Description

Saxophonist Garbarek's debut album for ECM dates from 1970 and features a quartet of Norwegian jazz talent all bursting with talent and ideas. As one reviewer writes, "one of Garbarek's most stimulating and exciting albums, bursting with humour and technical brilliance. It will have your head popping along with your fingers".  

There is beautiful playing from the young Garbarek and his fellow musicians - Terje Rypdal on guitar, Arild Andersen on bass and the ever-sensitive Jon Christensen on drums - who stimulate each other as the music develops. As another reviewer notes, "we get that typical ECM atmosphere[..], but these young guys hold nothing back at times. I'm so impressed with this album. It's very interesting, challenging and holds my attention all the way through."
