Triple lp compilation THE VAT SOUND, with comprehensive liners chronicling the early period (from its second incarnation--founded in 1934--through the 1940's) of The Vat, a popular watering hole prominently situated in an old stone horse stable in Palisade, NJ. Each disc features hot live jams primarily featuring in-house players fronted by The Vat owner, Tom Fredericks. 
From the liners: "We're drinking tall beers and short whiskies. We're sipping Cuba Libres, Scotch-and-Sodas, Rye Highballs, and Tom Collinses. We're swigging jet-black Rum Negrita on the rocks. We're smoking Chesterfields, Camels, Lucky Strikes, Old Golds, Fatimas...all unprotected by filter tips, extra length, or printed warnings." 'Nuff said. That last bit about the printed warnings date the liners (at least) to sometime after the mid-60's. The record is undated, with only an address for the pressing plant. Gatefold jacket.
I do not give out grades above vg+ for anything that has been removed from its original packaging.
