this copy has the original BLUE LABELS with SILVER PRINTING as well as
the famous 'REEL + MIC' logos . . . the labels also say "MICROGROOVE" as
well as the "BILL GRAUER PRODUCTIONS INC. - NEW YORK CITY" blurb

vinyl is thick and heavy and the DEEP GROOVE is on both sides + the
address on jacket is : 235 West 46th Street New York City 36, New York
and the back cover features JOE GOLDBERG liner notes

an excellent copy

has been PLAY TESTED and sounds wonderful with only very slight crackle in a few spots
there are NO SKIPS on this record - but we do want to note that there is a small 'bubble' pressing flaw
in the vinyl near the end of side one that plays through fine, but there is a quiet but audible sound until the needle fully passes through the bump, approx 15 seconds, but it still sounds good

the vinyl is very shiny and clean with only slight wear - just light marks that do
not interfere with the sound except for the one spot mentioned above

the labels are also clean and have no writing

the cover is also in nice shape with no writing or markings of any kind and only slight
wear around the edges and a hint of very slight ringwear and there is also a small 1" split at
the bottom opening edge, but otherwise, the seams are tight

this is a very important JAZZ lp recorded in 1961 at the VILLAGE VANGUARD nyc shortly
before the death of legendary bassist SCOTT La FARO who was part of the amazing trio that
played on this record was magical and full of the subtly that BILL EVANS is famous for

this is a very deep and textural sounding recording with beautiful interplay & rhythmic intensity

during his tragically short life SCOTT LaFARO quickly developed into one of the most
advanced bassists around up there with CHARLIE HADEN and CHARLES MINGUS often
emphasizing high notes and playing with great speed, and his interplay with Bill Evans in their
trio was mutually stimulating and influential . . . he also had toured with CHET BAKER before
joining the BILL EVANS TRIO in 1959 . . . he had also played with STAN GETZ and also even
played FREE JAZZ with ORNETTE COLEMAN as well . . . the bassist is best remembered for
his association with Evans, particularly this Village Vanguard recording from 1961 but the
25-year-old Scott LaFaro's death in a car accident shortly after was a major shock
