As you may know, a lot of Nigerian rap from the 1980s is in plain English, but Junior & Pretty are known to have pioneered the use of Pidgin in their music. So they have not only revolutionised Nigerian rap but also set a trend for the huge explosion of Afrobeats around the world that has taken place over the past ten years. The other innovation is that they were true comedians, their raps are hilarious stories about city life in Lagos. This tragically rare LP is full of comedy raps over lo fi hip hop, dancehall and swingbeat productions with a poppy edge. Recommended, and you will not find another copy any time soon! Best track is probably 'Bloody civilian' which is like a Fela composition put to rap.
