*** 1920s Greek Instrumental Folk ***
Original 1926 US pressed 12" Greek 78 rpm record.

Two excellent instrumental Folk recordings by James Tsousis - violin, and Gust Damalas - lute. There's also a fantastic but unknown (to us) clarinet player, ripping it up. Like Jazz, this has a strong improvisational feel (we find it hard to believe this was played from sheet music). In this light it's interesting to note that the first significant Greek community to develop in the US was in
New Orleans, Louisiana during the 1850s.
Recorded by Greeks in Chicago, Illinois in July of 1926.
