B. Want You Right Now (MC5 cover)

I am the second owner of this single. The original owner was Tom "Pig Champion" Roberts of Punk Kings Poison Idea !!  He probably obtained it right at the time when Turbonegro came over for their very first U.S. shows in 1989 or 1990. I saw T.N. with P.I. together at that time at a long defunct club here in Portland called The Blue Gallery. Amazing, amazing show. I believe it may have even been their first U.S. appearance, but am not sure about that. Anyways, sometime in the early 90's Tom sold off a major portion of his awesome collection to a mutual friends record store. That store owner let me purchase a couple items before they went out for sale in exchange for helping him seperate the stems and seeds from the other "buds" of the collection. I chose this one, but still well before their popularity had ascended to it's current high level.

Each one of these 45's was hand decorated & numbered on the back by the band. This one is # 428/500. The back says "Mayo King", and has a inverted 'Peace' symbol and a couple other less definable designs. I'm not sure if "Mayo King" means that they had especially designed this one for Tom or not, but it's quite possible. He was an avid Punk Music collector (and performer obviously) and believe he had corresponded with them for some time before their first U.S. tour here. I believe the Poison Idea guys may have even had a hand in setting it up, but those are fuzzy facts I'm trying to recall from long ago.

Still has the original two-sided photo & credit insert!

Here's how I would grade the following components of this item:

Sleeve=EX-. Very, very good solid condition. Upon ultra close inspection (a couple of inches from your face max) you can see a extremely light & slight slight outline of where the vinyl rests in the upper left hand corner, but there's no color loss or fading (like the type normally associated with the term "ringwear", there's NONE of that here. In the 'G' you can see where a drop from the silver paint pen used to decorate & number the backside dropped. But since it was part of the hand designed personalizing process of each indivual disc by one of the original band members (probably one of the Pal's, but that is conjecture) I hesitate to call it a blemish. Really it's hard to imagine the sleeve being much better than this.

Vinyl=VG++/VG+  I have only played it a couple times, but Tom probably played it more. There's definite surface noise, mainly noticeable at the beginnings of each side. When the songs get louder its not that apparent, but in the parts where the instrumentation hasn't fully kicked in, it is noticeable. There's NO major damage of any kind (such as scratches, skips or warps).

Insert=EX++/NM.  Very straight. NO bends or anything. Rarely removed from the sleeve.

More than just a record, this is a piece of Punk Rock History!
