Description
I stumbled upon this rarity at the estate sale of a collector of rare Classical recordings. This is a 33 1/3 rpm LP , metal acetate or laquer , quite heavy. It is the legendary Josef Hofmann performing Rubinstein Concerto No.3. The label has the date 3/5/1944. I had a hard time researching this one. I'm not sure if it is a fan recording or a test pressing or just what. THIS IS QUITE A RARE FIND AND CERTAINLY VERY FEW IF ANY OTHER COPIES OF THIS HAVE SURVIVED TO THIS DAY.
I hesitate to grade this record. Visually it is very good condition fully glossy, was rarely played, some minimal marks noticeable under bright light. When I played it on my stereo there is noticeable intermittent sound interference pops/hiss etc. I believe much of this comes from my modern needle. I think using the kind of needle and turntable this was intended to be played on that the playback will be far more strong. All that aside, I'm sure THIS INCREDIBLY RARE JOSEF HOFMANN RECORD WILL BE OF HIGH INTEREST TO THOSE WHO COLLECT HIS WORKS.
