I believe some of the hype surrounding this release has worn off due to the realization that this is not a private pressing. Tumbleweed Records in fact had big-money backing. The obscurity of the release was probably due to DRUGS. While desperate partying probably contributed to unreliable marketing and distribution practices, the hippie-traveler ethos more than reliably informed the rural-pensive-afterglow vibe here.
Yes, some of these tracks sound like familiar back-to-the-country singer/songwriter stuff. However, if you haven't heard the opening-tracks--You Were The Morning and Whispermuse--then prepare to be transported. The suite these tracks compose is as buoyant and ethereal as anything off of RELATIVELY CLEAN RIVERS or IF I COULD ONLY REMEMBER MY NAME.
