• THIS IS A VINTAGE 1970's PRESSING NOT A RECENT REISSUE VERSION OF THIS LP Info: The auctioned album is a vintage 1970's pressing & not a contemporary reissue (see Pressing Info below). Printed on this album's spine is "POLYDOR RECORDS PD 2-9001 JAMES BROWN/HELL 95839." Both "Polydor PD 2-9001" and "2673017" are printed on the front & back covers. ALLMUSIC.COM rates this album in exalted company at 4 1/2 stars & remarked: "The album was the pinnacle of his (Brown's) work as the Minister of the Super New New Heavy Funk." Condition: The 2 records are factory sealed, in as new MINT condition. The sealed gatefold cover is clean with a few small corner bumps. Pressing Info - Vintage vs. Reissues: Per a French collector, one way to distinguish a sealed vintage pressing of this album from a contemporary reissue is the card stock (the underlying cardboard) used on the cover. Reissues use a flimsy white cardboard that bends easily in the cover's corners. Whereas original 1970's pressed albums use cardboard typical of that time in thickness & color (greyish-brown) and those covers do not bend easily. The auctioned album fits the description of an original 1970's album/cover (see photo of the LP opening). In addition, photos of reissues imply their front/back covers have differences relative to originals as reissues have colors that are darker & over-saturated relative to original covers. This is another way to distinguish sealed originals from recent reissues, or else is shoddy photography by ebay sellers. Grading Descriptions Follow the link to learn more about the grading used to describe the condition of LPs. Seller uses these grades: G, G+, VG, VG+, EX, EX+, NM-, NM, MINT (MINT=Sealed). NOTE: NM is the highest grade given to an album that is not sealed, indicating an LP visually appearing PRISTINE as new. MINT is reserved solely for factory sealed albums. LPs that have but a fingerprint or spindle mark grade less than NM. To determine visual grades, LPs are examined close to a bright halogen light which indicates flaws not noticeable in other lighting conditions. Packaging
Albums ship properly packaged: (1) Album covers are insulated to prevent them from being scratched or scuffed while in transit. (2) Used albums are "re-sealed" to prevent record movement. This prevents seam damage to album covers & eliminates friction induced scratches/scuffing that can occur when an LP is shipped outside its album cover. (3) For albums with fragile covers the LP is removed & inserted into a Seller supplied cover & "re-sealed" which insulates the LP & prevents damage to the fragile cover. (4) LPs within box sets are insulated to prevent their movement while in transit. (5) Odd-sized box sets that do not fit into LP mailers ship double boxed. Return Policy Feedback from Buyers mentions I grade conservatively, though grading LPs is an inexact science exacerbated by the different & vague grading systems used by online Sellers. Should a purchased LP differ reasonably from this Seller’s stated condition a refund solely for the cost of the LP will be made upon its return. The Seller’s stated condition will be described within the ad's Condition section & in the Grading Descriptions section within the ad's Terms & Conditions. All returns need to be requested within 14 days after the Seller shipped the LP, and the LP must return to the Seller in a reasonably timely manner & in the same condition as when the Seller shipped it. SEALED ALBUMS: A refund for the cost of a sealed LP will be made ONLY IF the album was not opened & returns to the Seller in Mint sealed condition. Non-USA Buyers (1) The post office mandates non-USA shipments greater than $400 or over 4 pounds use Priority or Express Mail. (2) Seller only ships to international destinations covered by his insurance carrier. As the carrier can change their coverage at any time the Seller reserves the right to cancel a sale should the destination country not be eligible for insurance coverage. Please email should you wish to determine current eligibility for your country. (3) Due to postal issues, shipments to Mexico, Italy, India, & Malaysia must ship via Express Mail International. Reduce Shipping Costs Will ship multiple auction wins from any current auction in one package whenever possible. If interested, please email your intent to bid on other auctions prior to the closing date of your initial auction win.
