Description
Hi there! Now, I just bought a VERY nice but small collection of vinyl from a late 70's/early 80's Mod/Punk collector, who really knew his stuff...but not only that, he was one of those guys who liked his records to remain in the SAME condition he bought them in (that may include the odd item that was not perfectly mint when he bought it)...everything was in plastic covers, stored in solid well-structured boxes, the tops of the records did NOT poke up above the box rim so they didn't get flattened/bent by another box being put on top...you get the gist, right. Every item had been LOVED, and treated with respect...we love people like that, right?
Anyway, this is from that collection:

Deniz Tek, Pip Hoyle, Ron Keeley - all post Radio Birdman, plus their Minister Of Defence Mark Sisto on vocals, and serial moonlighter Steve 'Wofuss' Harris on bass (he played piano in the Passengers at the same time as his Visitors sojourn). They took Birdman's flirtations with the Doors, and with Kraftwerk and similar Germanic/Krautrock sounds, and extended them into some dark and brooding post-apocalyptic epics, like "Journey By Sledge", "Life Spill", and "Brother John", all of which feature on here, along with the fierce more Birdman-esque rant "Hell Yes", and the actively-apocalyptic "Disperse". Images of 'frozen lands' and desolate landscapes abound ("Living World", "Haunted Road")...
This record, this band - they were so far ahead of their time (it's taken YEARS for others to get close, the only true other proponent of this is Fred Laird's THE EARTHLING SOCIETY...search em out). The Visitors' live gigs (of which there were only a mere 12 back at the time) were exhausting affairs which demanded full commitment/involvement, often zipping you off to a zone you may never have visited before, and to somewhere that returning from required the same sort of come-down isolation you could imagine an interplanetary traveller needing. While onstage, these guys were indeed visitors from another world, transported in on death's own juggernaut flashing the call "All aboard", to which we responded with mesmeric abandon. Come on in, take the trip.
This LP features 11 of the 12 tunes they recorded at Palm Studios in Sydney's Paddington (only "Skimp The Pimp" is missing) in July 1979, finished only a couple of weeks before their forced dispersal.
