Offered for auction or Buy It Now this deluxe vinyl rerelease (2010) of XTC's critically acclaimed Skylarking (1987) is a double disc pressed on 180gm vinyl, cut at 45rpm; the single album appears on two albums for greater fidelity. US and UK editions have been combined so "Dear God" and "Mermaid Smiled" appear together.
Better sound than any other release (Andy says!). During the process of remastering an error was caught on the original tapes. Sometime during the initial mastering the sound polarity reversed, pushing some of the sound waves intended for listener through the back of the speaker. This error was corrected and is supposed to give this remastered version a richer, warmer, sound.
The deluxe version comes in a board book format with copious notes (16 pages) from Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding, original sketches, lyrics and photographs.
CONDITION
Both records have never been played. I only call it used because it is not sealed and the inside book has been opened a few times (once to take pictures for this auction). There are a few dents, and a hairline indentation on the cover. Sadly, this is the way it came shipped to me. Please see the photographs for a visual. Otherwise this rare item is in near perfect condition.
