Original MINT CLEAN ...50 years ago FIRST press...superior 1969 U.K. Deram Records pressing direct from the original metal masters...fantastic sound quality guaranteed surpasses the North American release.
The gatefold laminated cover has, on back cover top right, the die-cut circle which the Deram Record Company (i.e. Decca) way of showing if the record was MONO or STEREO. Obviously with mono records no longer pressed the circle on back cover became obsolete but does help in spotting *true* '60s pressings such as this!
Hearing this '69 British issue is to know the HIGH END ZONE audio !

Arguably the best TEN YEARS AFTER album, a blasting blitzkrieg of British blues-rock with twits & turns of jolting electrified psychedelics through T.Y.A.'s intense precision of really turned-on jamming ( can't help but notice the throbbing bass lines throughout) ...

Lp highlights are everywhere on SSSSH! Another that'll get your attention in a hurry is the pounding cruncher "Stoned Woman" ...as well as both performance show-stoppers "I Woke Up This Morning" and "Good Morning Little School Girl" , (both) lengthy jammers with heated Alvin Lee theatrics, blazing fingers flying right off the guitar frets ...hard not to be impressed with the energetic display on this LP where it all came together for the band releasing this classic winner, then world promotion for their thrilling WOODTOCK performance.
1969's "Ssssh" proved to be the album that broke the band commercially in America and elsewhere. Produced by Alvin Lee and company, it also happens to be the tightest and most interesting album they'd released. The album certainly sold well, hitting # 20 in the States. Largely written by Lee, the set still found the band finally beginning to move away from their roots, towards more of a conventional hard, high energy rock sound. While blues remained the predominant genre and the focus remained on Alvin Lee's blazing guitar, this time around the band came together as a very tight performing unit. Tracks such as 'Bad Scene' and the blazing 'Stoned Woman' may be the most exciting thing you've ever heard this band play - their playing is red hot, injecting a surprising amount of heat and passion into the proceedings. 'Good Morning Little Schoolgirl' with slightly revamped ('x-rated dirty') lyrics ensured the song would never get US airplay, but did get plenty of regional underground FM radio play.
Simply because they're so different than the rest of the album, the catchy flower-power ballads 'If You Should Love Me' and 'I Don't Know That You Don't Know My Name' are a welcome varied effort. Finally, it's always hard to pick an album as being an act's creative zenith, but "Ssssh" may well be the one for Ten Years After containing no weak tracks anywhere in sight ...
