Description
Here is an original pressing of the 1956 edition of ELVIS. This is the rare version that has the tracks listed on the label as "Band 1" Band 2" and so on. The record and cover overall are in very nice, though not perfect, shape. There is a little splitting on the cover (basically what's typical for records of this vintage that were kept in the sleeves all their life; in other words, the cover's not ripped apart, but has some unavoidable seam splits), along with some light normal wear. Certainly better than what I typically find on these old Elvis LPs. The record itself, graded visually, still has some nice gloss to the vinyl. I took a photo of the vinyl in the bright noon sunlight for you, and you will note it nicely reflects a pillar from my stairway at the 4 o'clock position of the disc that probably looks like discoloration but is actually a reflection in the gloss of the vinyl. There are some visible surface scuffs, but nothing I would be offended over. Grading standards vary, of course, but I would grade the vinyl VG+. You may feel differently, but that's MY opinion. My turntable is history so I can't listen to the thing, but I was told it plays good by the collector I bought it from. This came from a non-smoking house that had cats. It is close to impossible to find this version of the album in NM condition, but I think this copy is about as good you can hope to find in an album that was listened to but taken care of over the last 50 years. In 30 years of collecting, I've never personally found another copy of this version of the album. At worst, it's a nice filler copy, but I'd consider it a little better than simply a filler copy. Foreign shipping fine but I won't know shipping until the auction's end.
