Original...and quite rare ($$$ valued) 1970 BRITISH FIRST PRESS in gatefold cover... this album made the major roster of UK RCA Records even though under normal circumstances would have been released on the companies subsidiary label "NEON" (See Indian Summer LP for similar...) However RCA thought Fynn McCool to be of upper echelon and included on their premier roster...

The album is similar in a mix of styles to label-mates "Shape Of The Rain" and aforementioned "Indian Summer" ... highlights are the decidedly progressive side II which the band excel on the highest of levels when talking the "progressive-rock" genre.    

The only LP released by the band FYNN McCOOL from England. quartet of Britain. When the legendary beat-rock '60s band, "The Shake Spears" broke up in mid-1968, the remaining members Chris Stone, Alan Escombe and Mick Carter formed a group calling it "Fynn McCool" - character of Irish mythology. They were joined by Mick Fowler (ex-"Grapefruit"). More recent changes in the group included two more members "Grapefruit" - Bob Wale and Geoff Swettenham, as well as Garth Watt-Roy, who played in "East Of Eden".

Their only self-titled album "Fynn McCool" is now very rare. It was released on the "RCA Records" without the consent of a group using their excellent, but decidedly unfinished demos. Any further works on the tracks with final versions of the songs were lost shortly after the group disbanded in February 1972.

                 CONDITION: The cover: rated: VG (+) light wear per usual, nothing extreme, except for a moderate price sticker pull at top right which gets the bulk of the grade posted...otherwise generally decent without heavy wear you may see IF (if) the record turns up, which it rarely does, hence the 3-figures high dollar value.  There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing  ...

The vinyl: Rated: side one is "EX" (excellent) plays clean throughout, side two, from VG to M- (tracks 2 & 3 with scratch (light audio ticks) = outside of those two tracks the album performs in the "EX" /M- audio zones... both UK Rca labels are clean         A cool addition to anyone's music library!
