Description
For your consideration is a rare vintage 10 inch 78 rpm record by Ted Lewis and His Band entitled Ten Thousand Years Ago b/w Little Locket Of Long Ago. It is well known that Lewis recorded with and directed many different bands over the years with dramatically different lineups. The lineup of this band is entirely unknown, including the singer, which has been wrongly credited to Vernon Dalhart and even Lewis himself. Provided that this side sounds so much different from other sides recorded during the same session such as Lazybones, Here You Come and the B-side Little Locket, most would agree this is a different band entirely. Many have claimed it is the same unknown band that recorded Rhythm and perhaps Zombie as well. Some have even made the connection that perhaps this is a similar lineup to the band used on the Decca side Jazznocracy about a year later. Some have said that the sides really have no connection to Lewis whatsoever, similar to how some Whiteman potato heads are actually just Ben Selvin and have nothing to do with Whiteman. Regardless it's a really nice hot jazz record and pretty uncommon being released in 1933. Nice one!

Keep in mind that for the highest fidelity reproduction results, a correct sized, well maintained stylus should always be used and antique records should also always receive a deep cleaning with a stiff bristled brush and a non-alcohol based soap. I do not provide grading beyond what is required by eBay. If the photographs prove insufficient, do not hesitate to reach out with a question, as well as any other type of inquiry related to an item.
All 78 rpm records, vinyl or shellac, will be shipped sandwiched between either thick cardboard or some spare 78 rpm discs to provide substantial reinforcement for uneven pressure placed on a package during shipment. The record sandwich is then suspended in packing peanuts on all sides. Packing peanuts are the optimal durable memory material as they will insulate your item against any acute forces such as a fall or any type of blow and unlike bubble wrap will not pop and lose their shape if subjected to a strong force.
