Description
This lot offers 27 uncommon record labels, with only a few duplicates, not necessarily for their musical content. Some do have well known recording artists including Ernest Hare, Fred Van Eps, Arthur Fields, Original Memphis Five, Selvin's Novelty Orch, Earl Fullers Jazz Band and of course Cal Stewart as Uncle Josh.
With only a few exceptions (Excelsior record has a bad needle dig) the records appear to be in decent condition. There are no cracked records or bad edge chips. However, they are sold mainly for the labels so are as is with no returns. With that said - Railroad Blues is a nice jazz record. Four records have original sleeves although they show wear- wrinkles, folds, tears.
Also included, so you can research these labels further, is a 5th Edition (1997) copy of Les Docks "American Premium Record Guide 1900-1965. It has a section showing numerous labels so you can date your newfound treasures. This excellent book also covers 7,500 artists from all music types including: big band, blues, jazz, country/western and rock, 1900 to 1965. It presents over 30,000 record values, including listings for 78s, 45s and LPs. (Summary from goodreads.com).
