RARE complete set of 10 single-sided Vitaphone discs (16" diameter; 33-1/3 rpm):

"A Free Soul" (1931), a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer / MGM production starring Norma Shearer, Lionel Barrymore, Clark Gable, Leslie Howard, and James Gleason. Directed by Clarence Brown

I am confident you will never find a cleaner set of Vitaphone discs from this classic pre-code film!

Visually graded as follows:
Disc / Reel 1 (12631): At least VG+ due to some surface rubbing
Disc / Reel 2 (12632): EX
Disc / Reel 3 (12633): EX
Disc / Reel 4 (12659): E+
Disc / Reel 5 (12635): EX
Disc / Reel 6 (12658): E+
Disc / Reel 7 (12639): VG++
Disc / Reel 8 (12640): EX
Disc / Reel 9 (12641): VG++
Disc / Reel 10 (12642): VG++ but PLEASE NOTE there is a 1.5" tight hairline crack from the edge of this last disc that is inaudible (I've provided detailed photos, front and back, plus a sound clip below).

All but one are the original, matching sleeves (rubber stamped on front at top right). The reverse of sleeve #1 has newspaper clippings, and poster repros (from the press kit?) affixed with glue. I've only seen three small seam splits (less than 1") in total. These discs were clearly well taken care of, and carefully stored for decades.

CLEAN, unmarked labels! (Was the projectionist too lazy to be bothered with marking how many times they were played? Was this a back-up set of discs that were never used?)

This lot will be painstakingly double-boxed in an oversized, 22" x 20" x 10" carton to prevent damage in transit. As you probably know, these discs are HEAVY.
