THIS IS A COMPLETE GENUINE RARE UK ORIGINAL, AND IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BUY AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF A HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE VINYL ALBUM, in STUNNING CONDITION, with Flawless Archival Audio Performance!

High Voltage is the first internationally-released album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It contains tracks from their first two Australia-only issued albums, High Voltage and T.N.T. (both from 1975). Originally released on Atlantic Records, this edition of High Voltage has proven popular, selling three million units in the US alone. However, initially the album was panned by some critics upon its release, including a review by Rolling Stone magazine's Billy Altman that called it an "all-time low" for the hard rock genre.  It was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC/DC remasters series.

Prior to the release of the international version of High Voltage, AC/DC had already released their debut album under the same name High Voltage a year before in Australia only, which had a different track listing. The international release only included two tracks from the original release, with the rest of its songs being pulled from AC/DC's second album T.N.T. The international releases of High Voltage also had different album covers from the original: one features a picture of Angus Young as he appeared on the cover of the Australian single for "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)". An alternative cover was used on the international version's European release.

Most editions of the international album have a version of "It's a Long Way to the Top" that is shorter than the original album version. The full length version is 5:10, while the edited version shortens the last chorus causing the track to fade out early at 5:01. Vinyl editions of the international album contain the edited version.

The original version of "High Voltage" which features on the T.N.T. album was longer and finished with a sustained guitar note followed by a single hit of the snare drum. The international version has the song fade out before the sustained note.

High Voltage was initially subject to mixed reviews, but garnered positive reception over the years. Allmusic's review, by Stephen Thomas Erlewine, praised Angus Young's "monster riffs" which appear to be easy but give the music its strength and this allows Scott to be "somebody who never hid the notion that lurking behind the door are some bad, dangerous things, but they're also fun

The original European 1st press cover shows a cartoon figure of Bon Scott with Angus in the background. The original Australian coves shows angus with his tongue out and a lightning volt  hitting the stage at his feet.

THE LABELS - NEAR MINT

Famous ATLANTIC labels are in SUPERB Condition, no marks or writing, no spindle wear.  Great all round examples, they look almost unplayed, I can see only one tiny spindle trace on Side B only, and one on Side A. Quite unbelievable, these are superb labels, the colours are absolutely perfect, they are immaculate and so rare with this 1st press of AC / DC's 1st ever album!  

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

It is unbelievably hard to find copies of HIGH VOLTAGE with great audio. So many vinyls, even visually clean examples can play with a  lot of distortion and repetitive clicks. For such a raucous album that is not surprising, but the mastering also meant that these vinyls were prone to dust penetration and surface noise.

This is a truly great example, as flawless as vinyl can be.  Strong, undistorted sound, and an absolute minimum of any static or surface sound. Channels are clean and unstressed. The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals which come through with tremendous power. All the instruments and every breath of Bon Scotts singing is bright and clear. As with the bass and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and precise, quite unbelievable. 

Every track has been tested and I was amazed at every minute of this rare pressing. 'Its a Long Way To The Top'  bursts in with amazing clear sound, and those amazing bagpipes sounding crystal clear. Absolutely no pops, clicks or any interference, just crystal clear sound. 'Rock N Roll Singer' again starts with super clear sound and plays with incredible clearly and definition. In the section where its just Bon singing with no instruments, it plays with absolute silence. Amazing.  'She's Got The Jack' plays with perfect audio, unbelievable clear sound, with nothing to fault it. I have never heard a pressing of High Voltage sound like this. Still not a single pop and certainly not even a hint of distortion. 

'Live Wire' again bursts in with perfect audio, and please be assured, I hardly ever use that term, only on the rarest archival vinyl pressings. The long drumming bass linen plays with truly stunning clarity. This level of audio is unbelievably rare. The track plays with perfect sound separation and amazing clarity. 'TNT' is the same, absolutely perfect.

Side two begins with 'Can I sit Next To You Girl', and it plays beautifully, with no static to be found. Still no pops clicks or even light tics. 'Little Lover' stays with the slow grungy rock but its still a complex heavily layer track, and all the layering here is heard crystal clear. It take us to the pumping sound of 'She's Got Balls'. I am amazed at this, it is simply and without doubt the clearest I have ever heard, and this is such  hard album to find with even half way decent audio. It just plays perfectly with no pops, no clicks, no hissing, not even any static, or any that is there is virtually inaudible. The last track, 'High Voltage' bursts in, so heavy and again so clear, truly astounding, perfect sound. 

This is an incredible Flawless audio performance, super clear sound and needless to say, NO distortion, NO sticks or jumps what so ever. I didn't detect a single pop or click anywhere. The whole album plays with amazing power and clarity. You could jot find a better sounding piece of vinyl. It looks unplayed and sound unplayed. Just crystal clear audio on this already rare 1st ever press. 

This pressing plays with crisp clear audio throughout, with no loss of audio performance what so ever. I would easily give this a grading of  NEAR MINT condition.

THE RECORD - Visual Grading 

A superb piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original early pressings, this vinyl has clearly been little played, only a couple of times in fact. On first inspection in strong daylight this vinyl looks completely unmarked. Inspected under a powerful spot light, it still looks unmarked, and any faint sleeve removal marks are barely visible. There are certainly no audio affecting marks, as should be clear from the audio description. This vinyl is simply stunning. Easily graded as  NEAR MINT.

THE COVER 

These thin 1st press covers of High Voltage are almost impossible to find in great condition. They are nearly always flattened to some extent, if not completely, and the surface is usually prone to creasing, general wear and separating all over the place. 

This great complete 1st press Comes with the original 1st Press Cover, and a very unusual example. 

The cover is nice and square, and shows virtually NO handling wear or creasing, virtually no  corner wear, and has certainly no tears or serious defects. There is no feathering to the Top openings, which is unusual. The cover is square and un flattened. I would have to grade this at NEAR MINT.

RARITY

High Voltage has become a collectable vinyl, and there are a number of good reasons. It is a classic, ground breaking piece of music, its AC DC's first album, and has a number of brilliantly designed components, all if which are prone to wear. An unusually thin cover that is nearly always flattened and torn, a white inner sleeve, that is usually stained, and a great vinyl that was nearly always played into submission.

Even with the cleanest copies you will find occasional static sound or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and I advise a light clean should be given between plays for optimal performance.

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
