TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION - 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION - OUT OF PRINT - TREMENDOUSLY RARE LIMITED EDITION VINYL PRESSING
As unlikely as the idea seems today to use the suspense-filled stories of Edgar Allan Poe as the basis for an album of rock tunes, listeners in the 1970s--who were barraged with such high-flown concepts during the heyday of prog-rock--turned the record into a major hit. The Project actually scored a Top 40 hit with "(The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather." Thanks to FM radio overplay, however, "The Raven" is probably the album's best-known track today. The 1987 CD version of "ToMaI" differs somewhat from the original vinyl. Parsons dropped in synthesizer parts to modernize the album, and added an opening recitation by Orson Welles. But the integrity of the original is maintained well enough, and the album remains a classic excuse to dim the lights, pour a glass of sherry (amontillado, natch), and break out the headphones.
Debut album released in 1976, a concept album, with the songs based on the writings of Edgar Allen Poe by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson. Parsons had just finished work on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and had produced for EMI Records. Woolfson, a songwriter and composer, was working as a session pianist. Based on Woolfson's Edgar Allen Poe concept, the two wrote the songs for this album with Parsons producing and engineering. The album was well received, with the song The Raven featuring vocals by actor Leonard Whiting. It was also the first rock song ever to use a vocoder. Includes 2 bonus tracks not on the original album, plus an 8 page booklet.

THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT TURN OF A FRIENDLY CARD 180g CLASSIC RECORDS RARE OUT OF PRINT LP
Although numerous doubts abounded that concept albums with thematic focus were not what people wanted to hear, Alan Parsons’ somewhat egomaniacal projects always found a broad public. Of course one can listen to the perfectly styled sound of the music which this man created at the mixing console and concentrate on its programmatic contents or wallow in its esoteric tonal depths. But you don’t have to, for Parsons’ velvety mixture of ballads and rock numbers will get your ears’ nerve endings tingling without lyrics and themes. The album The Turn Of A Friendly Card includes two of Parsons’ very best songs: "Time," with its beautiful harmonies, and the gently swinging "Games People Play" which opens with Empire fanfares. That the instrumental tracks are find favor with almost all rock fans is hardly surprising because the music more often than not emulates the driving sound of Brit Rock rather than bombastic "sonic souffles" (Rolling Stone). But be that as it may, the title certainly holds its promise. The sales figures for this album clearly show that this "friendly card" has definitely turned up trumps for Alan Parsons.
"Alan Parsons’ attention to engineering detail and multi-level instrumentals is captured by the audiophile virgin vinyl. The luxurious tones of the synthesizers are contrasted with the jagged electric guitars. The mix levels are balanced delicately. Whether it’s the power of the string sections or delicacy of the lithe vocalists, the quality is superior. The Turn Of A Friendly Card is a discerning combination of intriguing pop music and eminent studio technology." - Audiophile Audition, audaud.com, September 2011

Available on Vinyl for the First Time!
On Air is the second solo release by Alan Parsons following the split of The Alan Parsons Project, originally released in 1996. Although On Air might be the most underrated Alan Parsons album, many consider this as one of his best.
One of the creative forces was APP long-time guitarist Ian Bairnson. The concept of the album revolves around the history of airborne exploration. The theme of "Too Close to the Sun" is escaping the labyrinth of the Minotaur. "Brother Up In Heaven" is an emotionally driven song, about the unfortunate death of Ian Bairnson's cousin. "One Day To Fly" is a song about Leonardo da Vinci's search to design a flying machine.
A who's-who of lead vocalists are featured on this album; Christopher Cross, Eric Stewart, Neil Lockwood, Steve Overland and Graham Dye. The amazing artwork was re-created for the Music On Vinyl edition by none other than Peter Curzon of Storm Studios.
This is the very first vinyl issue of On Air, which Music On Vinyl celebrates with a limited pressing of 1000 numbered copies on transparent blue-ish vinyl!

PRYAMID - 180 GRAM OUT OF PRINT MUSIC ON VINYL ISSUE -
Pyramid is nothing short of a masterpiece.
But the Egyptian overtones and pyramid motif is just a surface, a tangible stage set, if you will. What this album really seems to be about, lyricaly and intellectualy, is man and his quest for eternal life and coming to grips (or not) with one's own inevitable mortality. Just look at the song titles... "In the lap of the Gods", "Can't take it with you", "The Eagle will rise again" "One more river" you get the idea.
Hammer dulcimers, timpanis, Egyptian flutes, a heavy choir, and other exotic instruments blend with rock instrumentation and the result is one of the greatest recording projects ever captured on tape. Recorded at Alan's home away from home, EMI Abbey Road studios London, it sounds like is was recorded in and around the pyramids with echo, atmosphere and grandiosity.
Colin Blunstone's sole vocal contribution on "Eagle will rise" is beautiful, un forced and sorrowful beyond description. One of the greatest vocal performances ever, to my ears.
The instrumental "In the lap of the Gods" is bold, dynamic, exotic, powerful and damn near overwhelming...Wow! turn up and test your audio system's abilities with that one my friend.
Pyramid is a complete (theme) album and I prefer to listen to it it's entirety from start to finish when possible.
Pyramid is like buried, forgotten (Egyptian) treasure. I bought the original vinyl album on a gamble as a curious teenager on it's first release back in 1978. Good move. I've never come across Pyramid in anyone else's record/cd collection since then(?)
Most people are duly impressed and curious when I slyly slip it into the car/home stereo. Personaly I never tire of hearing Pryamid and never will.
Even the un-remastered LP sounds incredible.
One of the greatest recordings of all time. A desert island disc without question.
"If all things must pass even a Pyramid won't last"

While Eric Woolfson remembers being under the tremendous pressure of recording deadlines even as Alan Parsons remembers a recording process bedeviled by all manner of malfunctions in a foreign studio, Andrew Powell delivered the finest orchestral arrangements to ever grace a Project. In strictly musical terms, Andrew Powell made what would possibly have been a good but under-distinguished album absolutely exceptional! Songs like Winding Me Up and Damned If I Do would never be the same without Andrew Powell's orchestral touch. As such, I would strongly recommend tracking down some of Powell's other work, especially Andrew Powell and The Philharmonia Orchestra Play the Best of the Alan Parsons Project and Ladyhawke: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
In strictly conceptual terms, the time constraints imposed by Arista forced Woolfson to abandon his original hope of composing an album dedicated to significant women throughout history such as Joan of Arc. What remained was a far more conventional look at the fairer gender and their influence over men. The photography by Hipgnosis actually sums up the conceptual short-comings of EVE quite succinctly. Holding the male viewer in the longing of their lovely gazes, two of the three women are so subtlely marred that said flaws do not detract from their tremendous beauty. Unfortunately, the third woman is presented with an undeserved ugliness that completely overwhelms her beauty. Although never intended as universal statements, the songs You Lie Down With Dogs and I'd Rather Be A Man suffer in much the same way the third photographed woman does for much the same reason.
But, for me at least, the paradigm upon which EVE rests is the stunningly beautiful instrumental Secret Garden through which the listener glimpses the lost garden that Lesley Duncan seems to almost beckon us back to in the closing epic If I Could Change Your Mind. The poignant sorrow of Duncan's soulful vocals harken the listener back to the time when man and woman lived in perfect harmony with one another. One can only wonder how EVE would have been received all these years had it been called EDEN instead. With an instrumental overture called Lucifer, are ponderings of that sort really such a stretch?
While the bonus material once again grants a welcomed look behind the scenes of the creative process, the one song from long-fabled "The Sicilian Defence" called "Elsie's Theme" will likely cause almost anyone hearing it to wonder why it was never recorded before now. Elsie's Theme from The Sicilian Defence (The Album That Never Was) is a very adept solo piano piece by Woolfson that would be right at home on an acoustic new age program or, even, at a quietly dramatic point in a film. I would not mind hearing an entire album of Woolfson's solo piano works if they are anything like this.

Ammonia Avenue is their million selling album worldwide
Includes the hits "Don't Answer Me" and "Prime Time"
Reached the No. 1 album chart position in several countries
The sixth Alan Parsons release on Music On Vinyl! Released two years after their big-selling Eye In The Sky album, Ammonia Avenue from 1984 offers beautiful tunes, with intelligent lyrical content.
The theme of the album is the communication breakdown of mankind in a society turning ever more antisocial. Alan Parsons Project is the pinnacle of Art Rock, and this album proves it, yielding the hit single "Don't Answer Me."
A great deal of variation and clever hooks result in a record that holds more than the sum of its parts: A great listen throughout!

The Alan Parsons Project - Stereotomy
180-gram audiophile vinyl
Features the original artwork
Alan Parsons Project is well known for building their albums around certain socio-demographic themes. Stereotomy (1985) deals with the way in which modern society molds the personality. At the time, Stereotomy was one of the first completely digitally recorded pieces of music, sporting a rare 'DDD' code on its first release.
The album is coherently balanced, its synthesized and orchestrated songs completing each another. The high octane "Where's The Walrus?" is a response to 'Mr. Laser Beam', analogy of Mr. Lee Abrams, an American radio personality. He accused the band having gone 'flat' in their last albums: he asked them 'Where's The Walrus?', meaning 'Where are the classic songs like The Beatles' "I Am The Walrus"?'.
The Music On Vinyl reissue of Stereotomy features the original dual-colored jacket (except for the translucent colored plastic outer sleeve).
Side 1 Stereotomy Beaujolais Urbania (Instrumental) LimelightSide 2 In the Real World Where's the Walrus (Instrumental) Light of the World Chinese Whispers (Instrumental) Stereotomy Two

EYE IN THE SKY
Worth it for the opening cut alone. Remember the Chicago Bulls in Jordan's heyday? They'd introduce the Bulls with the lights turned out (back before every team did that) and this song, "Sirius," blaring. Even if you weren't a fan, you couldn't help but have goose bumps. But you've never heard that tune sound like this!Alan Parsons, who first took up an apprenticeship as a sound engineer at EMI and was later responsible for several Paul McCartney productions and the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, drew upon his experience in order to further his solo career. While the co-producer Eric Woolfson wrote the songs, Parsons – who had an uncanny feeling for sound – conjured up a lush mélange of synthetic and natural sounds.
