This auction is for the impossibly rare 1969 LP "Phallus Dei" by Amon Düül II, on Liberty Records (LBS 832791).  This is the ORIGINAL German pressing of the album, coming straight from the band's country of origin.  This is NOT a reprint or reissue of any sort.  What I am offering is an album you won't likely see again, especially in the NEAR MINT condition presented here.  In its original factory shrink, with all promotional items included, and NM vinyl to boot.  This record has been played 3 times since it was purchased at the time of release.  This is not an auction that you're going to want to pass up.

For those not familiar with the album, it is considered to be the original Krautrock album (alongside "Monster Movie" by Can).  This is some really wild, dark Prog-Rock with eerie chanting, frantic violins, strange drones and noises, long instrumental sections and some really interesting vocals!  This is a very special (and early) album within the genre, and really manages to make its own distinct mark among their peers of the time.  This is DARK prog indeed!

The Cover:

The album jacket appears as if this was a brand new item.  It has been preserved in storage for 40 years in its original factory shrink, kept away from all light sources and other elements.  The corners are still sharp.  The front cover still has 100% of its glossy, laminated sheen.  There has been no fading whatsoever, so the colors have remained bright and vivid.  The back cover is pristine and spotless with no color fading.  The spine and all of the edges are all perfectly straight with no feathering, spotting, tanning, etc.  There isn't much more that can be said about the jacket of this album.  It appears the exact same way it did when it was purchased 40 years ago.

Inner Sleeve/Promotional Items:

The original factory plain white sleeve still protects the record.  It is in excellent condition.  On the outer shrinkwrap the original "Liberty Underground News" sticker is still affixed in the lower right corner.  Included inside the sleeve are the "Liberty Underground News" flier that features pictures and catalog numbers of 10 albums by different artists on the label.  It is made of newsprint and printed with purple ink.  The "Liberty Underground News" postcard is included as well.  It is an actual postcard that is addressed to the label.  Finally we have a 12"X12" thin cardboard insert that has a creepy picture of the band on one side, and album credits/thanks on the other.

All of the items I have just explained are in NM condition.  This is every promotional item that was included.  This sends this LP into Over-The-Top-Rare Territory.  This is the most complete package of the original pressing that you will ever find.

The Vinyl:

The vinyl is a NM gem that sparkles and shines like it was new.  It is a very strong NM with no visible defects.  The labels are pristine and clean with no spindle marks.  The vinyl itself is as new as you could possibly find it, and I stress once again that it has been played up 3 times in its 40 year existence.  The LP was purchased in 1969 in Germany, listened to once and put in storage.  I have played it exactly twice, and was handled with extreme care while doing so.  I cannot say this enough, but this is virtually a brand new album, aside from not being completely sealed.

This is the true definition of a "Collectors Item" for any prog-rock enthusiast, or any rare record collector in general.  It sounds far better than the CD reissue, as vinyl usually does, and is in a condition that will allow you to make the perfect vinyl rip to your computer.   You will simply never find another copy as complete and NM as this no matter how long you search.  Do NOT pass this one up.  Feel free to compare this auction with any others of the same type.  You may get this for a steal if not many people see this auction, so don't be afraid to put in a bid.  There will be no reserve on this LP.  Have fun bidding on this one.  You won't be disappointed!!!
