August, To Be With You / Peter Gunn, Private Press 70s Soul Outsider Disco. Ok, I collect obscure private press records, I got two copies at an estate sale recently here in Los Angeles, the other copy is a keeper! Side A is a 70s Modern Soul ballad with Arp or Moog synth solos that’s a white Soul ballad, it’s pretty good on the outsider level, the guy can sing. SERIOUSLY... The B side is awesome! It’s an instrumental hardcore Disco cover of Peter Gunn, with a disco bass, funky drum breaks (I’m not lying, it has real drum breaks!) it has a horn section too! I dig it! The guy who was hired to arrange this unknown record is Rick DePofi, look him up he was hired by lots of big name artists like Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello and lots of major names, big time studio heavy hitter. I believe this was a wealthy Los Angeles unknown artist with money who hired the best arranger he could buy. Rick DePofi has a side band in New York called “Mondo Mancini” the covered his music, that’s why the B side is so brilliant.
Shipped well packed and protected in a standard 45 mailer, poly bagged, properly cleaned, new white sleeve with extra cardboard for protection. I COMBINE SHIP WAIT FOR INVOICE BEFORE PAYMENT. SHIPPED MEDIA MAIL IN THE USA.
VG+ a few very faint, only visible under bright light paper scuffs from the sleeve. Plays clean on both sides, play tested all the way through both sides.
