This is the rare UK Mono 1st press of 'Pet Sounds' by The Beach Boys. The rare and sensational mono press is complete with the earliest rainbow Capitol label, the original matrix and the earliest 'Patents Pending' Garrod & Lofthouse laminated flipback sleeve.
The record is in Very Good++ condition. When examined under a strong light the vinyl has a superb gloss with a few very light marks. It lies flat on the turntable and when played sounds rich, warm and very clear. There is very little occasional background noise.
The black Capitol label is completely clean. The black is bold, the rainbow colors are vivid and the text is sharp. There is very little spindle wear. The record is complete with the original inner sleeve.
The earliest Garrod & Lofthouse flipback laminated sleeve is in Fine condition. The laminate has a wonderful polished mirrorlike shine. The image is entirely unworn, the colours still have their bold original finish and it is completely flat. There is a crease to the bottom left corner of the cover, it does not "break" the laminate. The back cover is still bright with sharp text and the pictures are still sharp. The flipbacks are complete, still sealed.
Record condition (based on visual inspection only): excellent / very fine: (no scuffs or scratches that would affect play; minimal surface noise).
